In Bagan, the Ananda, completed in 1090 is Kyansittha’s master piece and the crowning achievement of the Early Style of Temple Architecture. The Ananda is one of the most impressive and exquisite monuments of Bagan. The festival of Ananda pagoda starts on 8th Waxing day of Pyatho (February) and ending on Full Moon Day of Tabodwe (February) for a bout 23-days. It is one of the most popular pagoda festival in Bagan.Bowls of alms filled with crops are offered to monks who all wait in a long line. Pilgrimage and holidays outings on country bullock carts from villages far and near can be seen in addition to the usual stalls selling various commodities.
