Shan State is located to the east of the Union and is well known as Shan plateau high table land. The total area is 60,155 square miles. It can be divided into southern and northern Shan State. Northern Shan State is bordered with China and the Soughtern Shan State is bordered with China, Laos and Thailand. The most border trading cities in northern Shan State are Lashio and Muse. These towns are located on Myanmar-Yunnan highway road.
